I am always delighted to see how craft inspires happiness as others wear or view my work. Working with polymer clay, a versatile material with unlimited color possibilities, I create contemporary jewelry that is bold, vibrant and fanciful, yet is lightweight, durable and easy to wear.
Each piece of jewelry features handcrafted, unconventional beads made from polymer clay. All of the necklace clasps are easy to manipulate: either clasps that I fashion from silver or brass wire to complement the beads or strong magnets covered in clay for a seamless appearance.
I also construct small decorative boxes using techniques that I have refined for jewelry making: caning, slicing, layering, using marquetry, adding veneers or texture, highlighting with ink or paint and rolling, folding or smoothing work before curing.
In the Washington, DC area, my jewelry has been shown and sold at juried, invited and other events sponsored by the Creative Crafts Council, the Washington Guild of Goldsmiths, McLean Project for the Arts, Glen Echo Partnership for the Arts and Culture, the James Renwick Alliance, the Rappahannock Art Tour, Chevy Chase Artists and the Phillips Collection gift shop.
